Is it hard to learn guitar by oneself? Does it need a lot of time?
Hi, I just came up the idea of learning guitar but don't feel like going to find a teacher as I don't really wanna spend the money don't really have the time. So any ideas from those who have learnt guitar in one way or another that is it hard to learn by oneself with a book? And what kind of book do I need if I wanna do it? Im a uni student and won't have fixed timetable for guitar but I will try hard. Any suggestion?THX add some more.... It was all started with the ads in the TV actually that I saw it was only $99 for a guitar. I was working a lot at that time cuz its holidays, that's how I started to think to learn it. I don't need a good one to start with do I?

Why do most people want to learn guitar such as electric and then give up because they say it's to hard?
I think guitar is one of the easiest Instruments to play and I used to play piano and I find piano much harder than guitar, but I don't understand why people give up easily on playing guitar? It's as easy as a lot of practice and calluses.

How do you learn guitar songs?
I have an electric guitar. I know about 15 licks from different songs. I want to learn the WHOLE song, to play along with it. I can't listen to the song, because I honestly cant hear the strumming pattern. When I search on youtube for it, everyone just teaches does the intro or solo part. When I look for tabs it shows me, but it doesn't show the strumming pattern. Any advice? How do you learn it?

Guitarists: What would be the perfect songs to fit if I wanted to learn guitar theory, scales, and sweeping?
So, if there's any songs that had each of these elements in them...so like if there would be a specific song for Guitar TheoryScalesSweepingSort of like the intro to " Bleeding Mascara" Atreyu the intro would be an example of sweeping. But, I was just wondering if there were any more good songs like that and maybe a song that has a bunch of scales in it and maybe sweeping as well incorporated in it. Theory might be more of the concept of guitar.Im not sure if there would be a song to teach that. Same thing w scales, but i kinda hope that there would be...Thanks for answering

Am i doing well with learning guitar?
i've had my guitar since july 9 of this year, and play it quite frequently. I can already play Smoke on the Water the main riff , Another One Bites the Dust, and I'm working on the riff on Day Tripper and the chorus of Viva La Vida. I'm self taught I use the book From Liverpool To Abbey Road Am I progressing well? I guess I'm sort of impatient because I LOVE rock and want to be able to play all my favorite songs...but it'll take time I know
